Winter Wasteland

When did society get so absurdly PC that we’re now banning 74 year old songs?

“Baby, It’s Cold Outside” was originally a husband and wife duet written by Frank Loesser in 1944. It wasn’t a Bill Cosby date rape song, and it certainly was not written to promote anything other than music and a good time.

Cleveland’s WDOK (maybe they should rename to WDIK) put the ban hammer down on “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” removing it from their airwaves. The answer from host Glenn Anderson was as lame as the action itself. Glenn said, “The world we live in is extra sensitive now, and people get easily offended, but in a world where #MeToo has finally given women the voice they deserve, the song has no place.”

Really Glenn? Fuck are we going to remove the Will Ferrell movie ELF now from the world too? They sing it. Man I shouldn’t even write that or some PC infused reject will start making waves.

This really leads me to thinking about “What is PC / what is not-PC” anymore. I need to make a list. Podcast material for sure. Hell, my Lord and Savior George Carlin did “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” which I used to sneak a listen to from my Dad’s turntable in the 70s and 80s. It was amazing and influenced a lot of my jaded sense of humor.

The Political Correctness / Sensitivity Era needs a MASSIVE dose of Carlin, Dice, Sam Kinison, Rodney, and Rickles style of comedy. Desperately. There are a few today who tackle shit head on. Joe Rogan, Chris D’Elia , Anthony Jeselnik to name a few. They’re killing it. Go follow them on Twitter / Instagram and enjoy the content they put out. It’s great stuff and more of what the world needs.

That’s all for today, vent mode off. Happy Holidays and all that jazz.
