It’s a strange thing friendship, and it has many levels. I was at a party today for the kid and it makes me realize that friendship is something we’re all lucky to obtain at various stages at our lives, and the choices we make help determine who those friends may be.

Kids add an entirely different complexity to things, and we do our best to navigate it. Kids becomes friends first. On the playground. At an after school activity. The parents? We are shoved together after the fact to figure things out. The past 2-3 years have been an interesting experiment in that respect of meeting lots of new people, not all remain.

Some will be toxic people and I just say run the fuck away from them. Like the plague. Who needs that in their life. Others will be Facebook friends. You will watch each others lives from a distance and every once in a blue moon be in the same place, same time. Of course you both pretend this is that moment you have been waiting for but nobody cares.

Lastly, friendship. The people you meet and are happy to see and run into on the street, at mutual events, school shows, wherever. These are the kinds of people I have been meeting lately and it’s fantastic. Happy times ahead, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
